Board of Directors

Child Care of the Berkshires is governed by a Board of Directors, made up of several members representing the community, including parents of children using CCB’s services as well as former parents. Membership is recruited from all areas of Berkshire County in which we have programs operating. Board members are nominated to serve on the Board for a one-year term for current parents and three year terms for community members at large. The Board is responsible for overall governance of the agency, approving policies including the Personnel Policies, approving the budget, monitoring the income and expenses, long range planning, hiring and supervision of the Executive Director.

The Board of Directors consists of a group of dedicated individuals concerned with the quality of early education and care who meet bi monthly to discuss issues important to the agency.

William Robinson, Chair

Bill is currently employed as Senior Vice President, Insurance Division of Mountain One. He has been with Mountain One since 1999. He is a graduate of North Adams State College (MCLA). Bill recently retired from coaching, having served as the Hoosac Valley’s boys basketball coach for 25 years. He was named Masslive’s 2014-2015 Western MA Boys High School Basketball Coach of the Year. He serves as Board Chair with Child Care of the Berkshires and also as a volunteer with Northern Berkshire United Way. Bill joined the CCB Board in 2010. Liz Costley, Vice- President

Liz and her husband,Tom Costley,have  operated Overland Travel,which organizes summer trips for teens seeking outdoor adventure,language immersion,community service and writing instruction since 1985.Costley attended Williams College, graduating as an English major in 1981. She received her Master’s degree from  Brown University  in 1984.  Liz has taught middle  and high school English in international schools in Greece and Tanzania,as well as in public and private  schools in New England,and at the college level at MCLA. Lynette Ritland Bond, Treasurer

Lynette is the Grants Coordinator for the Adams MA Community Development Office. She received her master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from New School University and her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and International Studies from Iowa State University. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for two  years in Honduras as an economic development advisor to the local high school and area cooperatives. She worked six years at Columbia University in Communications,managing large-scale transformation initiatives before moving to North Adams. Kathy Buckley

Kathy is the Principal of the Kittredge Elementary School located in Hinsdale, MA.  as well as the Preschool Coordinator for the Central Berkshire Regional School District and a co-teacher in various grades.  2017-2018 is her third year at Kittredge and her 30th year in CBRSD. Before becoming principal at Kittredge she taught at Craneville Elementary School, spanning  K, 1, 2, Reading Recovery, Librarian and was the principal there for six years. She also taught first grade for three years at the former East School and for one year at Crosby Elementary School in Pittsfield.

Alison Bost, Clerk

Alison is the Deputy General Counsel for the firm of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & LLP in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her practice focuses on legal and ethical issues as well as personnel law and has been with the WCSR firm for almost 20 years. She received her law degree from Wake Forest School of Law in 1997 and her BA from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. Alison joined the CCB Board of Directors in 2015 and serves as the Clerk and on the Capital Campaign Committee. She and her husband live in Williamstown.

James Brosnan

Jim is the Superintendent of the McCann Technical High School in North Adams, a position he has held since 1995. He has a C.A.G.S.and a M.ED from Worcester State College and AB from the College of the Holy Cross. Jim is also a retired Army Colonel after a 36 year career in the reserves which included tours in Kuwait and in Iraq. Howard “Jake” Eberwein lll

Jake Eberwein is the Dean of Graduate and Continuing Education at MCLA. Prior to this role, he was the Superintendent of the Pittsfield Public Schools, Deputy Superintendent, principal of Pittsfield High School and a chemistry/biology teacher.  He is interested in transformative leadership and organization development that elevates student achievement and closes the achievement gap, and community/collective alignment and impact. Jake earned his undergraduate degree in biology/chemistry at Skidmore College, his M.Ed degree in school leadership from MCLA, and his doctorate in educational policy and research from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2008. Alison Foehl

Alison has worked as the Lower Grades Computer Lab Teacher at the Williamstown Elementary School since 2011. She is a 1988 graduate of Williams College and earned her MA in early childhood education from Bank Street College in New York. Before moving back to Williamstown in 2001, she taught at The Brearley School and PS 151  in NYC ,in a nursery school in New Canaan,CT and five years at Newtown Friends, a Quaker school in PA.  She worked as a substitute teacher at WES and Pine Cobble while raising her four boys. Libby Garcia

Libby is recently retired from her position as Staff Associate at Academic Affairs at MCLA; her responsibilities included preparing budgets, faculty and adjunct teaching contracts, and tabulating student eva luation forms. Libby is a graduate of Isenberg School of Management, UMASS Amherst with a Professional Masters of Business Management, has a BS from MCLA and an AA in Business Administration from BCC.  She currently owns and operates a small tax preparation business. She joined CCB’s Board of Directors in 2012 and serves on the Finance Committee. She lives in Pittsfield.

Ann Guest

Anne is currently the Inventory and Royalty Manager at Storey Publishing in North Adams; she has worked for the company since 1997. Her mother and daughter were both born and raised in North Adams, and Anne has lived and worked in the area most of her life.  She graduated from the Business Data Processing program at McCann High School in 1977 and worked her way through North Adams State College  (MCLA), obtaining a bachelor of science in Business Administration in 1990.  She is particularly interested in supporting children.

Kate Heekin

Kate Heekin settled in the Berkshires in 2006. Her grandparents had been Williamstown residents for decades so it was familiar “turf.” She earned her undergraduate degree from Boston College and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Manhattanville College. She has a teaching background in elementary education. She is the Associate Director of Admissions at Williams College. She joined CCB’s Board of Directors in January 2012. When she is not working she spends as much time as possible outdoors with her two young sons and husband or cooking in Williamstown.

Alethea Morrison

Alethea is the Creative Director  at Storey Publishing Company. She has been in that role since 2007. She is originally from San Francisco and worked as the Design Director of Chronical Books. She is a published author of a book on raising bees:Homegrown Honey Bees: An Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Beekeeping Your First Year, from Hiving to Honey Harvest.  She has a BA in Art History from Columbia University in the City of New York and a degree in Graphic Design from California College of the Arts. Lee Leonesio Mullins

Lee Mullins is a retired kindergarten teacher from the North Adams Public Schools. She joined the Board in 2017.  She is a native resident of North Adams and still resides there.
