TITLE: Early Childhood Clinician
Combined position funded by EEC Mental health Consultation Grant and DPH’s Expanded Home Visiting serving Berkshire County
Collaborative position of both Child Care of the Berkshires and Behavioral Health Network
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide mental health screenings for children up to the age of 8 years, using the CANS assessment
- Provide consultation to teachers, FCC providers and HF home visitors concerning specific and general situations
- Interview teachers/FCC providers and parents to develop a plan for social, emotional and behavioral support
- Provide short term psychotherapy services to a small case load of referred children and/or parents
- Advocate for parents and their needs and facilitate referrals to other services as needed.
- Complete all required clinical documentation.
- Participate in weekly supervision and program team meetings for both Mental Health Grant and Healthy Families.
- Submit weekly accounting of time and activities and complete all screening and report documentation.
- Services will be provided at the child care center, FCC home, office and/or in the parent’s home as appropriate.
- Assisting with the identification of barriers, problems, gaps in the community and solutions for families/children
- Representing the two collaborating programs and agencies (Behavioral Health Network and Child Care of the Berkshires) at community events to improve outreach to families.
- Office situated in Pittsfield, MA
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA degree in a third party approved mental health field
- Experience and interest in working with the early childhood population, including children, parents and providers is required.
- Experience with post partum depression helpful.
- Knowledge of local parent and child resources is highly desirable.
- CANS certification required before start date.
- Must have good organizational and communication skills, ability to work with families from diverse backgrounds, and work as a team member.
- Must embrace the Strengthening Families philosophy, be sensitive to the needs of parents and the stressors in their lives and to interact in positive, respectful way with many different parents and children and community members.
- Must include parents as a regular and integral member of treatment.
- Some evening and weekend hours are required.
SALARY RANGE: $16.00 – $16.50/hour with Benefits, 35 – 40 Hours per Week,

TITLE: ASSISTANT PRESCHOOL TEACHER
South Berkshire Early Childhood Center
On-site in the Muddy Brook School, Great Barrington
RESPONSIBILITIES: To serve as assistant teacher in preschool classroom assisting the Lead Teacher. Other responsibilities include helping to provide one-on-one interactions between adults and children, assisting in curriculum implementation, and assisting with other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• B.A. or A.A. in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• EEC Preschool Teacher Qualified.
• Minimally 9 months experience and child development class.
• Must demonstrate dependability, maturity and flexibility.
- Must demonstrate nurturing skills with children, cooperativeness with adults and commitment to professional development.
- Understands and implements developmentally appropriate practices for toddlers.
- Must be in good health, free of contagious disease, and have up-to-date immunizations.
SALARY RANGE: $8.50 – $10.50/hour

TITLE: FAMILY HOME VISITOR
Healthy Families Program
North Adams and Pittsfield Offices, Full and Half time positions available
BASIC FUNCTION:
The family home visitor will conduct weekly or bi-weekly home visits to teen parents to provide pregnancy and parenting support and education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing parent education through individual home visits using parent education curriculum and providing strength-based support to teen parent families.
- Assisting with planning and facilitating parent education and parent/child groups.
- Advocating for young parents and their needs and making referrals to other services as needed.
- Providing a variety of support to young families including, but not limited to, parenting skill development, health education, nutrition counseling, pregnancy/labor and delivery education, breast feeding support, stress management, assessment of home safety.
- Documenting accurately, legibly, and succinctly participant contacts, including inputting information in a web-based database.
- Maintaining participant charts and all required documentation.
- Assisting with the gathering of data and other information as required by funding sources and the lead agency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience as a parent, as well as relevant experience in parenting education and/or human services is preferred as well as experience working with young parents and young children is highly desirable. Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency. Some knowledge of local health and human services and community resources is preferred. Knowledge of child development, particularly for ages 0-3 years, is desirable. Must have the ability to establish supportive, non-judgmental rapport with families, and demonstrate good listening skills. Must be able maintain a professional relationship with families, professionals, and other agencies. Must have good communication skills and be able to work with families from diverse backgrounds. Must be able to document information accurately and have working knowledge of computers and word processing, as well as skill in standard office equipment. Must have the ability to structure time and responsibilities independently and an ability to plan and implement individualized activities to occur in participant’s homes. Must be able to travel to homes and other community resources in order to provide services to families. Must have good physical health in order to meet the demands of home visiting, physically holding and carrying infants and young children, car seats, scales, etc. Must be able to successfully complete Criminal Background Information Record Check and Motor Vehicle Record Check. Must be interested in participating in training and professional development.
SALARY RANGE: $11.25 – $12.50/hour with Benefits
