TITLE:     Ambassador/Project Coordinator of the Youth Mentoring Program

                   Child Care of the Berkshires, Inc. (CCB)

 

SERVICE REQUIREMENTS:     Ambassadors complete one year of service (minimum of 1700 documented hours), complete a site service project, group project, attend all corps wide training and work sessions, maintain a service Portfolio and journal, as well as complete all required AmeriCorps documentation and reporting. The 2012-2013 program year is August 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:       CCB’s Youth Mentoring Program is one of CCB’s Family Support Programs.  The program recruits mentors and mentees and matches these individuals. The Ambassador/Project Coordinator will work with the Program Director to establish a program based on “Best Practices.”  The Project Coordinator will provide coaching and support to both the families of the mentee and the mentors.  Services are delivered to families with children between the ages of 4 and 14 years by a team of volunteers from the community. CCB plans to recruit and support approximately 20 -25 matches in its initial year of operation.

 

SERVICE DESCRIPTION:         In conjunction with the Program Director, plan and implement all aspects of a mentoring program serving youth in the Northern Berkshire community. Develop protocols for the program, recruit mentors and mentees, and coordinate meetings, trainings and fundraising activities, market program and elicit support from community, writing/editing grants and preparing reports to funding sources. Prepare monthly written reports, assist in conducting program and participation evaluations, work collaboratively to complete group projects. Must be able to attend all corps-wide trainings and events to cultivate future non-profit leaders, including a week-long orientation, bi-monthly corps meetings, a mid-year retreat and two service-week sessions, must maintain a service portfolio and complete all professional development requirements as part of member contract.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                    BA/BS strongly preferred, strong writing and editing skills, experience with blogging/social media, comfortable speaking in front of groups, experience with and/or commitment to youth development, interest in non-profit organizations and their development, excellent organization and communication skills, the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, proven leadership and project management abilities, a passion for national and community service, the desire to work with diverse people, organizations and communities, flexibility and a good sense of humor, positive attitude, and must be a US citizen or permanent US resident.

 

POSITION BENEFITS:              $595.00/bi-weekly taxable living allowance, Fully Paid Health Insurance, Transportation stipend of $59.00/month and additional transportation reimbursements, excellent training and networking opportunities in the mentoring field and non-profit sector, and $5,350.00 Education Award upon completion of service.

TITLE:                                      School-Age Group Leader

Magic Seasons School Age Program, North Adams

HOURS:                                    15 hours per week, 2:30pm – 5:30pm

                                                  Full time when school is not in session

                              

RESPONSIBILITIES:                Function as the Group Leader in a classroom of school-age children. Must be able to design and implement a creative, stimulating, developmentally appropriate curriculum; provide supervision and monitoring of health and safety needs; promote independence and creative thinking skills; and fulfill all other duties associated with being a member of a teaching team at the Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:                    Applicant must meet Early Education & Care guidelines for School-age Group Leader. Must be 18 years of age, high school diploma or equivalent and 6 months experience working with School Age Program or have 9 months experience working with school age children including 3 months in a school age program.

SALARY RANGE:                     $9.00 – $11.00 per hour
